What cookies are
A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store. On your next visit the browser sends it back, which lets the site recognise the browser. Some cookies disappear when you close the tab; others persist for a set period. Similar technologies, such as local storage, do much the same job in a different way, and we treat them the same as cookies in this notice.
Our approach
Cookies that are strictly necessary for this site to work are set automatically, because without them the site cannot function. Everything else is off until you switch it on.
- No optional cookie is set before you make a choice. Rejecting is exactly one click, in the same place and the same size as accepting.
- We record what you chose and when, so we can demonstrate consent if we are ever asked to.
- Your choice lasts 12 months. After that we ask again.
- You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, using the cookie settings link in the footer of every page.
- Rejecting optional cookies does not restrict any part of this site. Only the embedded map stays hidden, and there is a direct link to open it in Google Maps instead.
Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the site working and secure. They cannot be switched off, and they do not require consent because the site cannot be delivered without them.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| rovuwa_cookie_consent | Rovuwa Holdings | Remembers which cookie categories you accepted, so we do not ask on every page. | 12 months |
| PHPSESSID | Rovuwa Holdings | Session identifier used to protect form submissions against cross-site request forgery and to apply rate limits. | Until you close the browser |
Analytics cookies
These help us understand which pages people find useful, so we know what to improve. They are off until you turn them on, and they are not used to identify you personally.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one browser from another to count visitors. | 13 months |
| _ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Maintains session state for analytics measurement. | 13 months |
| NID, SOCS | Google Maps | Set when the embedded map loads, to store display preferences and consent state. | Up to 13 months |
Analytics also controls the embedded Google Map on our contact section. Because the map is loaded from Google's servers, displaying it means contacting Google. We therefore keep the frame empty until you accept this category, and show a link to open the map in a new tab instead.
Marketing cookies
These measure whether an advert or campaign brought you here, and would allow us to show relevant advertising elsewhere. They are off unless you switch them on.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| li_sugr, bcookie | Measures whether a LinkedIn campaign led to a visit or an enquiry. | Up to 6 months | |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Attributes a conversion, such as a submitted enquiry, to an advert. | 3 months |
If we are not currently running campaigns, no cookie in this category is set even when the category is enabled. It appears here so the notice stays accurate when campaigns do run.
Other browser storage we use
Two features of this site store data in your browser rather than sending it to us. Both are first-party, and neither is shared with anyone.
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| rovuwa_cookie_consent | Your cookie choices, as described above. | 12 months |
| rovuwa_application_draft | Set only if you tick "save my progress" on the application form. Holds your typed answers so you can finish later on the same device. Never includes uploaded documents, and never leaves your browser. | 7 days, or until you submit |
You can clear both at any time by clearing site data in your browser, or by discarding the draft when the form offers to restore it.
Third-party content
We keep third-party content to a minimum. Two things are loaded from outside our servers:
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used across this site. Requesting a font discloses your IP address to Google, but sets no cookie.
- Google Maps supplies the map on our contact section, and is loaded only with your consent, as described above.
Neither provider is permitted to use this website's traffic to build advertising profiles on our behalf. What they do under their own terms is governed by Google's privacy policy.
Change your choices
Open the cookie panel at any time and adjust each category, or withdraw consent entirely.
Withdrawing consent stops future optional cookies from being set. Cookies already stored are cleared by your browser when they expire, or immediately if you clear site data yourself.
Browser controls
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies independently of the choices you make here. Blocking all cookies will break parts of most websites, including this one. The relevant settings are:
- Chrome — Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies
- Safari — Settings, then Safari, then Privacy & Security on iOS; Preferences, then Privacy on macOS
- Firefox — Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data
- Edge — Settings, then Cookies and site permissions
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is no agreed standard for how websites should respond to it, so we do not rely on it. The controls on this page are what determine what we set, and they take effect regardless of what your browser signals.
